Biography

Jiao Hu, PhD, attended Binzhou Medical University in Shandong for his undergraduate studies. After graduating from university in 2007, he was admitted to the Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, to pursue a Master's degree in Plastic Surgery. After completing his Master's degree, he continued to pursue a doctoral degree at the Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College.
He has led and participated in research projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Beijing Development Fund, the Peking Union Medical College Doctoral Innovation Fund, and the Peking Union Medical College Youth Innovation Fund. These projects focused on the mechanisms of scar and keloid formation and their treatment. He proposed that the superficial dermis is the germinal layer of keloids, improved conventional keloid treatment, and published multiple high-quality research papers.
He has unique insights into autologous fat grafting. He was among the earlier researchers in China to use autologous fat grafting for scar treatment and pioneered the use of autologous nanofat for depressed scars, opening new horizons in the treatment of depressed scars. He also has extensive experience in aesthetic rhinoplasty, aesthetic eye surgery, and the treatment of skin lesions such as nevi and masses.   
Technical Specialties:
1. Tissue expansion: Skilled in using tissue expansion techniques to treat large-area scars, pigmented nevi, hemangiomas, and other skin lesions. The surgery focuses not only on improving function but also on restoring aesthetics.
2. Plastic and aesthetic repair of scars and keloids: Based on the specific condition of the scar, he comprehensively uses tissue expansion, local flaps, fine aesthetic suturing, medication injection, mechanical dermabrasion, laser, radiotherapy, nanofat grafting, and other methods to minimize the scar and ultimately achieve aesthetic repair. He has long been engaged in basic research on keloids, proposed that the superficial dermis is the germinal layer of keloids, improved conventional keloid treatment, greatly increased the effective rate of keloid treatment, and reduced the recurrence rate.
3. Autologous fat grafting: Expert in autologous fat grafting to correct facial depressions in the temples, nasolabial folds, tear troughs, cheeks, forehead, and other areas, improve facial contour curves, enhance facial three-dimensionality, and restore a youthful facial appearance. In addition to conventional autologous fat grafting, he also performs nanofat and fat gel grafting. This technique addresses problems that were previously difficult to solve, such as depressed scars (caused by trauma, surgery, acne, chickenpox, etc.), fine wrinkles (at the corners of the eyes, lower eyelids, forehead, nasal dorsum, lips, cleavage, and other areas), and dark circles under the eyes.
4. Skin lesions such as nevi and masses: Applies the concept of scar minimization to the treatment of skin lesions such as nevi and masses, minimizing scars while treating these skin lesions.
5. Minimally invasive aesthetic procedures: Skilled in minimally invasive aesthetic procedures such as botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, and other procedures.
